Some of our proudest work with Service NSW

It started when we volunteered to help with bushfire support work. Then COVID-19 hit and the list of critical and meaningful initiatives we were proud to be involved with just kept growing.

It may seem hard to remember, but not all that long ago the Australian bushfires were the biggest story in the world.  We saw horrific scenes on our televisions of people, communities and wildlife being devastated.  The Navy was called in to evacuate townships, livelihoods were lost and lives were changed forever.

Fast forward a couple of months and the COVID-19 pandemic has reached Australia, businesses have been forced to close, kids are being home-schooled and state borders have been slammed shut.  The deepest recession in 100 years also began.

There’s no doubt that 2020 was a tumultuous year for everyone and it’s widely acknowledged that government assistance has been a big part of keeping people safe and supporting businesses and individuals financially.

At Pragmateam, we’re super proud to have been part of several support initiatives provided by the NSW Government, with many of us deeply embedded in teams at Service NSW during this time, having the opportunity to help drive outcomes and solutions for the residents of New South Wales in such a critical time.

The Pragmateam resources were great to work with, very knowledgeable and professional with strong agile ways of working. They were a part of the team and I would gladly work with them again.

Key achievements and awards

These have been received by the teams in Service NSW that we have proudly been a part of:

  • Winner - Secretary’s Awards 2020, Working as One Award
NSW Victoria Border Permits Team from Service NSW. When the NSW-Victorian border closed in July due to COVID-19, teams from various NSW Government agencies were brought together to implement a permit solution that would be administered by Service NSW and enforced by NSW Police and NSW Health at border checkpoints.

  • Winner - Make It Happen (Team) - Victoria Border Permit Team
This award recognises an individual or team who has a clear understanding of the Strategic Plan and delivers outcomes directly related to this.

  • Finalist - NSW Premier’s Award 2020 in the “Putting The Customer at the Centre” and “Excellence in Digital Innovation” categories
During 2020, the team worked on grants that issued $1b to the economy, with $830m going to people and businesses affected by the bushfires and COVID-19 and were finalists in the NSW Premier’s Awards as a result.

  • Finalist - Service NSW Awards 2020 - DNA All-star Award (Team), Vouchers and Rebates team
This award celebrates collaboration across departments internally and externally, delivery of solutions to the public that resulted from this collaborative effort.

  • Finalist - Secretary of Department of Customer Service Awards
This award celebrates working as a team and the ability to deliver to tight schedules.  Work included improvements to test automation, solution design / architecture and event publication (e.g. TGO, application status)

What this really speaks to is our pride (and goal) to work on meaningful products and services where we can use our experience and skills to create value and impact for our customers and our customer's customers, in this case over 8 million of NSW residents. We couldn't be any happier to have been part of it.
